The company
Numerical machines and computers
Numaco is short for NUmerische MAschinen und COmputers: numerical machines and computers. The company started in 1980 as a developer and reseller of data acquisition systems, barcode reading machines among them. The subject has not changed since. The equipment has.
Today we design and install the software that puts a label on a thing and keeps the data behind it straight. Most of our customers work under rules that decide what a label has to say and who is allowed to change it. We work in Switzerland and in more than 15 countries worldwide.
Numaco is a services company first. Most of what we do is one system, built for one customer, and PrinterCal is the first thing we have made that you can simply be handed. numaco.ch covers that side of the company properly.

Where PrinterCal came from
The job our engineers kept doing by hand
Calibrating a label printer is not difficult work. It is fiddly, repetitive work that has to be done by somebody who knows the printer's own language, which is why it usually ends up with an engineer. Ours spent years doing it: on customer sites, or over a call, reading numbers off a printed label and typing commands back.
PrinterCal is that job, written down. The same sequence, the same checks, in the same order, done by the app instead of by whoever happens to know the commands. Nothing in it is new. What is new is that your own lab technician can run it.
We do not run like a corporation, and that is deliberate. It keeps us flexible, and it keeps us close to the people actually using the software. There is nobody between you and the person who wrote the code: ask us something about PrinterCal and an engineer answers.
