Who is responsible

Numaco AG, Haldenstrasse 3c, CH-8905 Islisberg, Switzerland (UID CHE-107.980.861) operates printercal.com and decides how the personal data described here is handled. You can reach us at info@numaco.ch or on +41 76 805 67 79.

The short version

This site does not track you. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, carries no advertising, and loads no other company's content into the page when you open it. The typeface and every image come from our own server. Apart from the ordinary server records described in the next section, we hold personal data about you only if you send us the contact form, or if you press play on the demonstration film.

Reading the site

The site is hosted for us by Netlify, Inc. in the United States. When your browser asks for a page, Netlify records the ordinary things a web server records: your IP address, the time, which page you asked for, your browser and operating system, and the page you came from. Netlify keeps these server records as controller for its own security and operational purposes, under its own privacy policy and its own retention schedule. We do not receive them, and we do not use them to build any picture of you.

The demonstration film

The film is hosted on YouTube, but we do not load it when the page opens. What you see first is a still image and a button that says "Load the film from YouTube", both served from our own server. Nothing reaches Google unless you press that button, and you never have to: the full transcript is on this site, and if you would rather not involve Google at all, ask us and we will send you the film another way.

If you do press it, your browser connects to youtube-nocookie.com, which is operated by Google LLC in the United States. At that moment Google receives your IP address and stores identifiers in your browser. We are responsible for loading the player and for the transfer of your data to Google that this causes, and clicking "Load the film from YouTube" is your consent to that step. What Google then does with the data it does as its own controller, under Google's privacy policy, and a request about that part is best directed to Google. Google LLC is certified under the Swiss-US and EU-US Data Privacy Framework, and your consent is the second basis for the transfer. If you want to undo it, use the control under the film to put the still image back, then clear your browser's site data for youtube-nocookie.com, or simply ask us and we will tell you exactly what to remove.

The contact form

If you write to us, we collect your name, your company, your email address, your phone number and role if you give them, the printer brands you tick, and your message. Netlify also records your IP address and the technical details of your browser's request with the submission, and passes them to the spam filter. Your name, your company and your email address are required, because without them we cannot answer you properly; everything else is optional and simply helps us give you a better answer.

We use this only to answer you and to continue the conversation you started. Under Swiss law the processing is directly connected with entering into a possible contract with you. Under the GDPR, where it applies, the basis is Article 6(1)(b), steps taken at your request before a contract, or Article 6(1)(f), our legitimate interest in replying to somebody who has written to us.

Your message passes through three companies before it reaches a person. Netlify, Inc. receives and stores it. Netlify passes every submission through Akismet, a spam filter operated by Automattic Inc. in the United States, so that genuine enquiries are not buried in junk. The message then arrives in our info@numaco.ch mailbox, which runs on Microsoft 365, and Microsoft processes that mailbox for us under the data protection terms that come with our licence. We are confirming which Microsoft company we contract with and which country holds the mailbox data, and we will state both here as soon as we have them. Inside Numaco, enquiries are read by our own staff. We do not forward them to partners or resellers.

We clear the Netlify store of submissions once your enquiry is answered and closed, and in any case no later than one month after it arrives. That covers both the ordinary list and the list of submissions the spam filter has flagged. The email copy of your message, and our reply, stay in our business mailbox for as long as we keep ordinary business correspondence, which is up to two years. Automattic retains submissions it has screened under its own schedule, which we do not control. If your enquiry leads to an order, Swiss bookkeeping law obliges us to keep the accounting records for that order, such as the offer, the order confirmation and the invoice, for ten years.

Ask us to delete an enquiry sooner and we will remove it from Netlify and from our mailbox, unless we are required to keep it. We cannot delete the copy held by the spam filter, and we would rather say so.

Nothing about you is decided automatically in a way that has legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not profile you. The one automated step is the spam filter described above, which can classify a message as junk, and if that happens we may never see it. If you have not heard from us, write to info@numaco.ch.

If you write or call us directly

Our email address and our phone number are published on this site, and you are welcome to use either instead of the form. If you email info@numaco.ch, your message and your address arrive in the same mailbox as an enquiry sent through the form, and we treat them the same way: ordinary business correspondence for up to two years, and the accounting records for ten years if an order follows. If you telephone us, we do not record the call, and we keep nothing beyond any note we make of what you asked for. Everything this notice says about your rights applies to those messages too.

The optional updates box

Below the form there is an unticked box offering occasional email updates about PrinterCal: new versions, supported printers, and practical calibration notes. It is entirely optional and it is not part of your enquiry. We will answer you whether or not you tick it, and we never make it a condition of anything.

If you do tick it, that is your consent to receive those emails. You can withdraw it at any time and at no cost, by replying to any update or by writing to info@numaco.ch, and we stop. Withdrawing does not affect emails already sent. So that we can show your consent was given, we keep a record of your email address, the date, the exact wording you agreed to and the language you read it in, for as long as we send to you, and afterwards for as long as a claim about the mailing could still be brought against us. That record is not covered by the one month rule above, because deleting it would destroy the evidence we are obliged to be able to produce.

Where your data goes

Netlify, Automattic and Google are all in the United States, and Netlify, Inc., Automattic Inc. and Google LLC each hold a current certification under the Swiss-US and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Microsoft, which runs our mailbox, holds the same certification; whether your message leaves Switzerland when it reaches that mailbox depends on where the mailbox data is held, which we are still confirming, as the section on the contact form above explains. The Swiss Federal Council recognised that framework as providing adequate protection with effect from 15 September 2024, and the European Commission did so on 10 July 2023.

Our agreement with Netlify separately applies the EU standard contractual clauses to transfers protected by Swiss law, with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner as the competent authority, so the Netlify transfer stands on two mechanisms rather than one. Ask us and we will send you a copy of the standard contractual clauses we rely on. We have a data processing agreement with Netlify, and the mailbox is covered by the data protection terms of our Microsoft 365 licence.

Automattic acts as Netlify's sub-processor rather than ours. Netlify's own documentation states that every form submission is filtered for spam using Akismet, which Automattic operates, but Automattic is not named on the list of sub-processors Netlify publishes in its trust centre, and we have not been able to verify that Automattic's Data Privacy Framework certification expressly covers the spam filtering service. We would rather tell you that than imply a completeness we cannot demonstrate. Ask us and we will send you what we hold about you.

A representative in the European Union

We have assessed whether Article 27 of the GDPR requires us to appoint a representative in the European Union, and we have not appointed one, because we do not consider this site to be directed at people in the Union. Our reasoning is written down and we will send it to you if you ask.

Security

Every page and every form submission on this site travels encrypted. The mailbox and the form dashboard are reachable only by named Numaco staff, with two-factor authentication on both.

Your rights

You can ask us whether we hold personal data about you and receive a copy. You can ask us to correct anything inaccurate, to delete it, or to restrict a particular use of it, and you can ask for the data you gave us in a common electronic format. Where we rely on our legitimate interest, you have the right to object to that processing, and you can exercise it simply by telling us. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting what was lawful before.

Write to info@numaco.ch. We will answer as quickly as we can and at the latest within one month, and we will tell you if we need longer and why. We may first need to establish who you are.

If you think we have handled your data badly, tell us first, because it is usually the fastest way to fix it. You can also contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner at edoeb.admin.ch, though in Switzerland an individual's own remedy against a private company is a civil claim rather than a decision by the Commissioner. If you are in the EU or the UK, you may lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

Changes

If we change how any of this works, we will change this page and update the date at the top.
