Accessibility

We aim for WCAG 2.2 Level AA on this page, and we would rather tell you exactly where we are than claim a level we have not reached.

What we have done

Every text colour on this site was checked against its background for contrast. The page works with the keyboard alone, and whatever you tab to keeps a visible focus outline. It reflows to a 320 pixel window and survives 200 percent zoom without losing content. Every image has a text alternative, every form field has a real label, and the demo film has English captions and a full written transcript below it in your own language. Animation is limited to a short fade as sections come into view, and every animation on the site is switched off entirely if your system asks for reduced motion. Nothing moves, flashes or plays when the page loads. Three of the five calibration steps contain a small diagram that loops for as long as that step is open: opening a step is your choice, and closing it stops the movement.

The header and the language switcher

On a desktop the bar at the top stays in place as you scroll. Anything you jump to with a link, and anything you reach with the Tab key, is pushed clear of it rather than hidden underneath. Below 768 pixels the bar is not sticky: it scrolls away, and every one of its links is repeated in the footer, where the language names are written out in full. The language you are currently reading is announced as the current one, because it is deliberately not a link and would otherwise be silent about why.

The film's subtitles are English only

The film is played by YouTube's own player, so its controls and its settings are not ours to change, and its subtitles exist in English only. The written transcript under the film is in all three languages, and that is the fallback we can stand behind.

Where we fall short

The demo film has no audio description track. That is a Level AA requirement (success criterion 1.2.5) for pre-recorded video, so on that one point the page meets Level A rather than AA. The film's voice-over narrates what is happening on screen throughout, and the full transcript below it carries the same content in text, so the information is available. We would still rather name the gap than round it up.
